LOWELL, Mass (Aug. 26, 2006) – The Franklin Pierce women’s volleyball team suffered a tough 3-0 loss to the University of Charleston (32-30, 30-28, 30-21) but bounced back to defeat C.W. Post 3-1 (30-15, 30-27, 25-30, 30-27) on day two of the UMass Lowell Invitational held at Costello Gym.

In match one, Franklin Pierce suffered a 3-0 set back to the University of Charleston. The Ravens were led by freshman Megan Feldmeth (South Pasadena, Calif./South Pasadena) who posted a team-high nine kills, four digs and two blocks, while sophomore Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Central Wetosha) added seven kills and 13 digs despite the loss.

In match two, Franklin Pierce took an early 2-0 lead before defeating C.W. Post 3-1 to earn its second victory of the season. The Ravens were led by the 2006 UMass Lowell Invitational All-Tournament team duo of senior captain Michelle McConnell (Elora, Ontario/Centre Wellington) and sophomore Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge). Buchholz collected a team-high 15 kills and four blocks in the match-up, while McConnell tallied a team-high 18 digs.

Sophomore setter, Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) dished out 28 assists and 11 digs, while Feldmeth turned in another solid hitting performance, knocking down 7-of-16 attempts (.438) with three service aces.

Franklin Pierce (2-1, 0-0 NE-10) will be in action again on Wednesday, September 6 as it travels to Stonehill College for a Northeast-10 Conference match-up at 7 p.m.
