PHILADELPHIA, PA. (November 20, 2005)
– Third-seeded Franklin Pierce suffered a tough loss to
second-seeded Long Island C.W. Post, 3-2 (37-35, 28-30, 26-30,
30-17, 15-10) in the 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference
Tournament Semifinals held at Harris Gymnasium this afternoon.
Franklin Pierce senior, Jessica
Ward (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) led the Ravens
attack, collecting a team-high 14 kills. Freshman Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Bridge) and junior Christina Collett (Tombstone,
Ariz./Tombstone) each contributed double figure kills as
well, chipping in with 13 and 12 kills respectively.
Freshman Karissa Hookstadt
(Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) was also solid for the Ravens,
collecting 40 assists and nine digs. The rookie setter also
registered five kills and two service aces.
L.I.U. C.W. Post junior middle-hitter, Emily Wildermuth
(Hunnington, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) led the Pioneers with a
match-high 20 kills. Senior Lauren Dunne (Bellmore, N.Y./Mepham)
was also solid, registering 19 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore setter
Ashley Sealy (Maraval, Port of Spain/St. Joseph) contributed with a
match-high 60 assists, as well as eight digs and three kills.
Franklin Pierce ended its season with an overall recorded of 14-14
(9-5 NE-10). L.I.U. C.W. Post (21-14) will face the winner of top
seeded Bridgeport University and hosts Philadelphia University
tonight in the ECAC Championship.
