Top-seeded Bentley Ousts Fifth-Seeded Franklin Pierce, 3-0
Team captains Vece and McConnell pace the Ravens in loss

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (November 12, 2005)
– Fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce suffered a tough loss to
top-seeded Bentley College, 3-0 (20-30, 26-30, 23-30) in the 2005
Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Semifinals held at Pace
University this afternoon.
Franklin Pierce captains, senior Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) and junior Michelle
McConnell (Elora, Ontario/Centre Wellington) set the pace
for the Ravens. Vece collected 18 digs, while McConnell finished
the match with three kills and nine digs.
Freshman Nicole Buchholz
(Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) contributed a team-high seven
kills, while also chipping in with four blocks. Classmate Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Camarillo) was also solid for the Ravens, collecting
20 assists and 10 digs. The rookie setter also registered five
kills and two service aces.
Bentley College senior, Amber Gracey (Saline, Mich./Saline) led
the Falcons, totaling a game high 14 kills in the match up.
Freshman setter Toni Piskulick (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch)
posted a game-high 43 assists in the Falcon victory.
Franklin Pierce (14-13, 9-5 NE-10 NE-10) awaits an Eastern College
Athletic Conference Tournament bid on Monday afternoon. Bentley
College (27-6, 14-0 NE-10) advances to the Northeast-10 Conference
Tournament Finals where it will face second-seeded, Bryant
University tonight at 7 p.m.
