Franklin Pierce Rolls Past Merrimack, 3-0

RINDGE, N.H. (November 5, 2005) –
The Franklin Pierce volleyball team swept the first three games to
defeat Merrimack College, 3-0 (30-19, 30-26, 30-28)) in
non-conference match-up this afternoon at the Franklin Pierce Field
House.
The Franklin Pierce attack was led freshman Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Ridge) who notched a match-high 15 kills. Classmates Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Camarillo) and Emily
Schultz (Salem, Wis./Central Westosha) were also solid for
the Ravens. Hookstadt contributed 19 assists, six digs and three
service aces, while Schultz recorded 15 digs, and nine kills.
Seniors Jessica Ward (Clinton,
Conn./The Morgan School) and Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) were also key factors in their last regular season
match of the year. Ward posted 14 kills and five digs, while Vece
registered a game high 29 digs.
Merrimack College was pace
d by senior Lindsay Larson (Mission Viejo, Calif./Laguna Hills) as
she posted 15 digs, eight kills and two blocks in the match. Senior
setter Kendall Rizzo (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) contributed 30
assists for the Warriors along with seven digs.
Franklin Pierce ended the regular season 13-12 overall, 9-5 in the
Northeast-10, while Merrimack finished 10-17 overall, 8-6 in the
Northeast-10. Both teams will travel to Pace University next
weekend for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. Franklin Pierce
has locked down the No. 5 seed in the tournament, while Merrimack
will be the No. 6 seed.
