Ravens improve to .500 with Conference win

Christina Collett Christina Collett tallied a team-best 10 kills and added three digs on Tuesday night against American International.

RINDGE, N.H. (November 1, 2005) – The Franklin Pierce volleyball team swept the first three games to defeat American International College, 3-0 (30-24, 30-12, 30-28) in Northeast-10 Conference action this evening at the Franklin Pierce Field House.

Franklin Pierce was led by junior Christina Collett (Tombstone, Ariz./Tombstone) who collected a team-high 10 kills and three digs for the Ravens. Freshman Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone Ridge) contributed nine kills in the match-up while also registering five total blocks. Classmate Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) was also solid, recording 28 assists, seven digs, and three kills. Hookstadt also notched four service aces and six blocks in the match.

Seniors Jessica Ward (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) and Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) were also key factors in the match. Ward chipped with eight kills and three digs, while Vece recorded 20 digs.

American International was paced by junior Krystle Neves (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) as she posted eight digs, seven kills and six total blocks. Sophomore Charisse Trotman (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Eastern) contributed to the Yellow Jackets attack with a game high 11 kills and six blocks.

Franklin Pierce (12-12, 9-5 NE-10) returns to action Saturday as it host Merrimack College at 1 p.m. American International College (5-10, 5-7 NE-10) will travel to Bridgeport on Thursday for a match starting at 7 p.m.
