Collett and Buchholz pace Ravens with 29 kills combined

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Oct. 22, 2005)
– The Franklin Pierce volleyball team swept the final three
games to defeat the University of New Haven, 3-1 (23-30, 30-25,
30-19, 32-30) in non-conference action this afternoon in West
Haven, Conn.
Franklin Pierce junior outside-hitter Christina Collett (Tombstone,
Ariz./Tombstone) and freshman middle-back Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Bridge) lead the Ravens attack. Collett registered a
team-high 16 kills in 24 attempts (.583 pct.) while Buchholz
contributed with 13 kills and seven solo blocks in the match.
Freshman setter Karissa Hookstadt
(Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) was also solid, recording 41
assists, seven digs, and five kills. Senior captain Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) notched a match-high 32 digs to help pace the
Ravens.
University of New Haven sophomore Vanessa Taylor (Scarborough,
Ontario, Canada) was solid for the Chargers, totaling 14 kills and
12 digs in the match-up. Junior Rhe-Ann Niles (St. Thomas,
Barbados) chipped in with a match-high 17 kills.
Franklin Pierce (11-11, 8-4 NE-10) returns to action Tuesday as it
travels to Bryant University for a match starting at 7 p.m. The
University of New Haven (11-12, 5-4 NYCAC) will travel to Bryant
University on Wednesday for match starting at 7 p.m.
