Franklin Pierce sweeps Saint Michaels, 3-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. (Oct. 19, 2005) –
The Franklin Pierce volleyball team swept the first three games to
defeat Saint Michael’s College, 3-0 (30-19, 30-27, 30-25)in
Northeast-10 volleyball action this evening at the Ross Sport
Center.
Franklin Pierce junior captain Michelle McConnell (Elora, Ontario/Centre
Washington) led the Ravens, posting 14 digs, nine kills and
three service aces. Freshman setter Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Camarillo) was also solid, contributing 27 assists,
11 digs, four kills and two blocks in the Ravens’ win.
Junior outside-hitter Christina
Collett (Tombstone, Ariz./Tombstone) collected 10 kills and
six digs, while freshman Nicole
Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) chipped in with 10
kills in 17 attempts (.471 pct.), as well as three blocks and two
digs.
Franklin Pierce (10-11, 8-4 NE-10) returns to action Saturday when
it travels to the University of New Haven for a non conference
match up starting at noon. Saint Michael’s College (1-11,
1-10 NE-10) will participate in the Skidmore Tournament this
weekend in Sarasota Springs, N.Y.
