Massachusetts Lowell nips Franklin Pierce, 3-1
Ward and Hookstadt lead Ravens in loss
Jessica Ward collected a team-best 18 kills to go with six digs
and three blocks on Monday against Massachusetts Lowell.

RINDGE, N.H. (Oct. 17, 2005) –
The Franklin Pierce volleyball team suffered a tough loss to UMass
Lowell, 3-1 (27-30, 30-26, 29-31, 24-30) in Northeast-10 volleyball
action this evening at the Franklin Pierce Field house.
UMass Lowell senior Julie Handy (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza)
paced the River Hawks, registering 24 kills and 29 digs in the
match up. Senior Katie Harrington (Rochester, N.H./Iona)
contributed with 21 kills while junior setter Caitlin Harte (East
Rochester, N.H./Spaulding) posted 61 assists in the River Hawk
win.
Franklin Pierce senior Jessica
Ward (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) led the Ravens with
18 kills, six digs and three blocks in the match. Freshman setter
Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Camarillo) was also solid, contributing 46 assists,
eight kills and five blocks in the Ravens loss.
Franklin Pierce (9-11, 7-4 NE-10) returns to action Wednesday when
it travels to Saint Michael’s College for a match starting at
5 p.m. UMass Lowell (14-4, 7-2 NE-10) will take the court again
when it travels to Bryant University on Friday for a Tri-Match
starting at 6 p.m.
