Franklin Pierce bests Southern N.H., 3-1
Vece and Hookstadt lead Ravens
Tara Vece tallied 24 digs on Wednesday night at Southern New
Hampshire.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Sept. 21, 2005)
– The Franklin Pierce volleyball team won the final two games
of the match to defeat Southern New Hampshire University, 3-1
(30-24, 28-30, 30-25, 30-21) in Northeast-10 Conference action this
evening at the Southern New Hampshire Field house.
Franklin Pierce senior captain Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn. /The Morgan
School) and freshman setter Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Camarillo) led the Ravens to their third victory of
the season. Vece totaled 24 digs and two aces in the match-up while
Hookstadt contributed with 28 assists and 10 digs. Co-captain Michelle McConnell (Elora,
Ontario/Centre Wellington) and freshman Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Bridge) also played solid for the Ravens as they both
chipped in with nine kills a piece.
Southern New Hampshire senior captain Deanna Guenther (Apollo,
PA/Kiski Area) led the Penman with 11 kills and 11 digs, while
freshman outside-hitter Jamie Rood (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) posted
14 digs and 10 kills in the match.
Franklin Pierce (3-5, 2-1 NE-10) returns to action Saturday when
it travels to Saint Anselm College for a match starting at noon.
Southern New Hampshire University (4-6, 1-3 NE-10) will travel to
Merrimack College on Saturday for a match starting at noon.
