Merrimack Tops Franklin Pierce, 3-1
RINDGE, N.H. (Oct. 14, 2003) –
The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss
to Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball action
at the Franklin Pierce Fieldhouse this evening.
Sophomore Lindsay Larson (Mission Viejo, Calif./Laguna Hills) led
the attack for the Warriors with 18 kills while freshman Caitlyn
Williams (Yorba Linda, Calif./Orange Lutheran) followed with 16
kills. Sophomore setter Kendall Rizzo (Chelmsford,
Mass./Chelmsford) aided the offense with 45 assists and classmate
Kerri McAleer (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart) contributed 18 digs
in the win.
Freshman Christina Collett
(Tombstone, Ariz/Tombstone) totaled a team-best 20 kills
with two aces and 10 digs. Junior Briana Bates (Belmont, N.H./Endicott
College) followed with 13 kills. Bethany Findley (Clinton, Conn./Morgan
School) posted 41 assists despite the loss and Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./Morgan
School) had a match-high 20 digs.
Franklin Pierce (8-10, 2-8 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday
when it travels to Assumption for a Conference match at 7 p.m.
Merrimack (6-16, 4-3 NE-10) next hosts Bryant on October 21 at 7:30
p.m.
