Franklin Pierce takes two from Georgian Court College
Ravens sweep Lions 3-0, 3-0 in doubleheader on day two of the Bridgeport Invitational
BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (Sept. 7, 2003)
– The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team had two
straight 3-0 victories over Georgian Court College on day two of
the Bridgeport Invitational this afternoon.
In the first match of the day, the Ravens defeated the Lions
30-15, 30-26, 30-26.
Freshman Christina Collett
(Tombstone, Ariz./Whetstone) led the Franklin Pierce offense
with 21 kills and one ace while also posting three digs and three
blocks. Junior Briana Bates
(Belmont, N.H./Endicott College) totaled 12 kills with five
digs and three blocks. Senior Bethany Findley (Clinton, Conn./Morgan
School) recorded 37 assists, two kills and one dig.
In their second meeting, the Ravens completed their sweep of the
Lions, winning three straight 30-18, 30-15, 30-25.
Collett topped the team with 14 kills, five digs and four blocks,
as Bates followed close behind with ten kills, two aces, and one
block. Findley registered 30 assists, one kill and three digs and
sophomore Tara Vece (Clinton,
Conn./Morgan School) managed nine digs.
The Ravens (3-2, 1-0 NE-10) take on Bryant College on Tuesday for
their first home match of the season at 7 p.m.
