Franklin Pierce Tops Southern Connecticut, 3-0
NEW HAVEN, CONN. (Oct. 29, 2002) - The
Franklin Pierce University volleyball team recorded its
fifth-straight win, defeating Southern Connecticut State, 3-0, in
Northeast-10 Conference volleyball action this evening.
Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, senior Mandy Johnson (Orange, Mass./Maher
Regional) recorded 11 kills, seven digs and three blocks to
lead the Ravens. Senior Catrina
Cuevas (Aurora, Colo./J.I. O'Neill (N.Y.)) and junior Bethany Findley (Clinton, Conn./Morgan
School) combined for 26 assists, while sophomore Briana Bates (Belmont, N.H./Endicott
College) totaled five kills, four aces and two blocks in the
win.
Kathleen Remirez led the Owls with eight kills and eight digs. Jess
Hernandez had 11 assists and Rachel Pitino had three kills and
three solo blocks.
Franklin Pierce (13-9, 5-7 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday,
when it hosts Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 Conference match
at 7 p.m. Southern Connecticut (0-11, 1-15 NE-10) returns to action
on Saturday when it travels to College of Saint Rose for a League
match at 1 p.m.
