AIC Defeats Franklin Pierce, 3-0
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (Sept. 19, 2002) -
The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team fell to American
International College, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball
action at Butova Gymnasium this evening.
Sophomore Courtney Bliss totaled a season-high 20 kills and 11 digs
to lead the Yellow Jackets, while junior Andrea Beauvais followed
close behind with 17 kills and ten digs. Freshman setter Dawn
Richardson was also outstanding, as she dished 47 assists in the
win.
Franklin Pierce was led by seniors Mandy Johnson (Orange, Mass./Maher
Regional) and Catrina
Cuevas (Aurora, Colo./J.I. O'Neill (N.Y.)). Johnson tallied
nine kills, eight digs and two aces, while Cuevas added ten digs,
eight assists and seven kills.
Franklin Pierce (4-4, 1-2 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday when
it hosts Saint Michael's College in a League matchup at 1 p.m.
American International College (6-3, 3-1 NE-10) next travels to New
Haven, Conn. to participate in the New Haven Tournament on Friday
at 3 p.m.
