FP Shuts Down Bridgeport, 3-0
RINDGE, N.H. (Sept. 13, 2002) - The
Franklin Pierce University volleyball team notched a 3-0 win over
the University of Bridgeport, defeating the Purple Knights 30-21,
30-26 and 30-17 in non-conference volleyball action at the FP
Fieldhouse this evening.
Senior Mandy Johnson (Orange,
Mass./Maher Regional) led the Ravens attack with 17 kills,
four blocks and a .708 kill percentage. Classmate Catrina Cuevas (Aurora, Colo./J.I. O'Neill
(N.Y.)) led the defense with a team-high 14 digs to go along
with eight kills and eight assists.
Junior Bethany Findley (Clinton,
Conn./Morgan School) added 16 assists and ten digs, while
newcomers Tara Vece (Clinton,
Conn./Morgan School) and Jessica Ward (Clinton, Conn./Morgan
School) each tallied ten digs in the win.
Franklin Pierce (3-3, 0-1 NE-10) next takes on intra-state rivals,
Saint Anselm College, on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in a Northeast-10
Conference matchup at 7 p.m. The University of Bridgeport (4-2, 0-0
NYCAC) travels to Teikyo Post on Monday, Sept. 16 for a
non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
