FP Comes Back To Win Two At Bridgeport Tourney
Ravens sweep Teikyo Post 3-0, 3-0 in afternoon doubleheader
BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (Sept. 7, 2002) - The
Franklin Pierce University volleyball team closed out day two of
the Bridgeport Invitational Tournament with two straight 3-0, 3-0
wins over Teikyo Post this afternoon.
The women got off to a good start, defeating Teikyo Post 30-19,
30-20 and 30-24.
Senior Mandy Johnson (Orange,
Mass./Maher Regional) who posted 11 kills, 10 digs and two
aces led the Ravens attack. Johnson averaged 15 kills per game in
the four-day tourney.
Sophomore setter, Bethany Findley
(Clinton, Conn./Morgan School) recorded 17 assists to go
along with three kills, while senior setter, Catrina Cuevas (Boulder, Colo./J.J.
O'Neill), added 15 helpers and seven kills.
In game two, the Ravens completed their sweep of Teikyo Post,
defeating the Eagles 30-28, 30-20 and 30-16.
Johnson topped the team with 12 kills, four aces, nine digs and
five blocks, while Cuevas followed close behind with nine kills, 11
assists and two aces. Findley totaled 18 assists and three aces and
sophomore Briana Bates (Belmont,
N.H./Endicott College) registered six blocks and three
kills.
The Ravens (2-2, 0-0 NE-10) next travel to Bryant College for
their first Northeast-10 Conference regular season matchup starting
at 7 p.m.
