FP Bests Saint Michael's, 3-0
RINDGE, N.H. (Oct. 19, 2001) - The
Franklin Pierce University volleyball team defeated the Saint
Michael's Purple Knights by a score of 3-0 in Northeast-10
Conference action this evening.
FPC's Mandy Johnson (Orange,
Mass./Maher Reg.) had another outstanding night, as she
recorded 19 kills and 12 digs to pace the Ravens. Jamie Fulwood (Hamilton, Va./Loudoun
Valley) was excellent on offense as she added 11 kills in
the win. Heidi Jensen (S. Glens
Falls, N.Y./S. Glens Falls) was also an offensive threat, as
she totaled eight kills and posted a .438 kill percentage for the
Ravens.
Setting up the attack was sophomore Bethany Findley (Clinton, Conn./Morgan
School) and junior Catrina
Cuevas (Puyallup, Wash./J.J. O'Neill N.Y.). Findley recorded
22 assists, while Cuevas dished 16.
Helping out on defense was senior Johanna Schubert (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Ann's
School), who had 11 digs.
Saint Michael's was led by freshman Stephanie Robbins, who chipped
in seven kills, while sophomore setter Heather Frame had 18 assists
for the Purple Knights. Both Katie Herband Lindsey Shumway served
three aces.
FP (8-8, 4-7 NE-10) returns to the court on Tuesday, when it hosts
Merrimack College in an NE-10 matchup in the FP Fieldhouse at 7
p.m. Saint Michael's College (3-17, 0-7 NE-10) returns to action
tomorrow when it visits UMass Lowell for a tri-match with C.W. Post
at noon.
