FP Fires Past Southern New Hampshire, 3-0
RINDGE, N.H. (Oct. 9, 2001) - The
Franklin Pierce University volleyball team defeated Southern New
Hampshire University by a score of 3-0 this evening.
The Ravens' offense was led by junior Mandy Johnson (Orange, Mass./Maher
Regional), as she registered 13 kills. Johnson also chipped
in 14 digs in the win.
Catrina Cuevas (Puyallup,
Wash./J.J. O'Neill N.Y.) led the Ravens' defense with 16
digs. Cuevas also helped out on offense, recording 14 assists and
nine kills.
Senior Johanna Schubert (Brooklyn,
N.Y./St. Ann's School) notched a match high six service aces
for the Ravens.
Southern New Hampshire's Lauren Enny led the Penmen with eight
kills and six service aces.
The win gives FP a 2-1 advantage in the second annual "101"
Challenge Trophy series, a head-to-head competition between the two
rivals. FP claimed the inaugural "Challenge," 9-5, during the
2000-01 academic year.
The Ravens (6-5, 3-5 NE-10) return to the court on Thursday, when
they host a tri-match with Keene State and Rivier College starting
at 4 p.m. Southern New Hampshire (2-14, 0-7 NE-10) returns to
action on Friday, when they host Southern Connecticut State
University in a NE-10 match up at 7 p.m.
