Ravens Excel at New Balance Early Bird Invite to Open 2024 Indoor Season 

 

BOSTON, Mass. (12.7/24) – The Franklin Pierce University track and field team kicked off the 2024 indoor season with standout performances at the New Balance Early Bird Invite, highlighted by a first-place finish in the men's high jump and several other top-ten results. 

First year Carson Thomas (Washington Township, N.J.) soared to a first-place finish in the men's high jump, clearing 1.97m (6' 5½"). He was joined on the podium by Antonio Adams (Westfield, Mass.), who tied for second at 1.92m (6' 3½"), and Owen Stevens (West Brookfield, Mass.), who placed eighth with a leap of 1.87m (6' 1½"). Shawn Mulkerin (Billerica, Mass.) rounded out the event in 10th with 1.82m (5' 11½"). 

In the long jump, Briahna Bouchard (Winchendon, Mass.) led the way for the women, finishing eighth with a leap of 5.01m (16' 5¼"), while Stevens secured 10th for the men with a distance of 6.48m (21' 3¼"). 

The throwing events featured notable finishes from Salvatore Lando (Sterling, Mass.), who placed fifth in the men's shot put with a mark of 13.82m (45' 4¼") and eighth in the men's weight throw at 13.37m (43' 10½"). Abigail Philbin represented the women in the weight throw, finishing eighth with a throw of 13.58m (44' 6¾"). 

On the track, Bouchard shined in the 60m hurdles, earning second place with a time of 9.20, followed closely by Lanette StJohn (Hayden, Alabama), who claimed fourth with a time of 9.37. 

The Ravens will look to build on this momentum as they continue their indoor season in 2025.
