Women's Track & Field's Young-Bey Takes 18th in 400m at NCAA Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. (May 26, 2022) – Junior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team wrapped up her season on Thursday evening, with an 18th-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Championships. The national meet is being hosted by Grand Valley State and the West Michigan Sports Commission at GVSU Track & Field Stadium.

Making her first career appearance at the NCAA Championships, Young-Bey took to the track in lane 5 during the third of three preliminary heats in the 400 meters. The Garden State native turned in a lap time of 55.92 seconds, which was good for sixth in the seven-runner heat, and 18th overall, in a 20-athlete field.

The NCAA Championships continue on Friday and Saturday at GVSU. There is one Raven left to compete, as freshman Nouhayla Errahili (Fes, Morocco) will partake in the high jump, at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday.
