MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 2, 2022) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team competed in two separate competitions this weekend. The team split up, with some athletes traveling to Daytona Beach, Fla., for the two-day Spikes Classic, hosted by Embry-Riddle. The rest of the team competed in Manchester, N.H., at the Southern New Hampshire University Invitational, where the team finished third, out of seven teams.

In Florida, freshman Nouhayla Errahili (Fes, Morocco) took first overall in the High jump after she cleared a 1.67-meter mark, which improved on her Northeast-10 Conference-leading height. Junior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) also improved on a mark which was already the NE10's best, as she took second in the 400-meter dash final for her 56.05-second time, just seven-hundredths of a second off the NCAA qualifying mark. Unfortunately, Young-Bey was unable to compete in the 200-meter finals, as the end of the meet was cancelled due to inclement weather.

At the SNHU Spring Invitational in Manchester, the Ravens took third out of seven teams. In the 100 meters, senior Saylee Missell (Stafford Springs, Conn.) took second for her 13.20-second time. She also claimed second in the 200 meters for her 27.40-second run. Senior Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.) took third in the 800 for her 2:24 time. Brianha Bouchard took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a 16.9-second time. Sophomore Katie Peterson (Derry, N.H.) finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:20 to take fifth.

Senior Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) took first in the high jump for her 1.60-meter mark. In the pole vault, Teresa Deasy and senior Stephanie Phoenix (Wallingford, Conn.) both cleared 2.75 meters to take second and third, respectively. Bouchard returned to take first in the long jump for her 4.73-meter performance.

In the shot put, sophomore Tyra Felton (Sterling, Mass.) took second for her 11.2-meter throw. Also competing was graduate student Katerina Dajia (Aurora, Ontario), who took fifth for her 10.57-meter throw. Hitting a mark of 10.56 meters was senior Samantha DeSouza (Sebago, Maine), who took sixth. Dajia also claimed second in the discus for her 34.95-meter throw. DeSouza threw 29.82 meters to take fourth. Throwing 24.08 meters and taking sixth was sophomore Beslen Childers (Wallingford, Conn.). Meanwhile, senior Julia Groll (Southington, Conn.) threw the hammer 39.46 meters to take third. Felton accompanied her, as she took fourth for her 36.25-meter performance. Senior Jessica Brewster (Castleton, Vt.) threw the javelin 32.58 meters to place sixth.

The Ravens will be back in action on Saturday, April 9, for the Jim Sheehan Invite, hosted by Fitchburg State University.
