NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (May 15, 2021) -- It was all about the Nwosu sisters on Saturday in the Hardware City. Sophomore Julieth Nwosu (Brockton, Mass.) and freshman Nkechi Nwosu (Brockton, Mass.) were both able to post All-New England finishes in both the shot put and the discus, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on the second day of the NEICAAA Championships (New England Championships) at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The day started with a bang for the Ravens, as the sisters Nwosu both earned All-New England honors in the shot put. Julieth Nwosu took second with a throw of 14.09 meters, while Nkechi Nwosu placed seventh with a heave of 12.50 meters. The distances are currently good for first and third in the East Region, respectively.

Both Nwosu sisters doubled up and came back to earn All-New England accolades in the discus as well. This time around, Nkechi Nwosu came out in front, in seventh place with a throw of 40.15 meters. Just four inches back, at 40.06 meters, Julieth Nwosu took eighth. Neither throw was a season best, but the sisters rank second and third, respectively, in the East Region.

Out on the track, in the 1500 meters, it was a 21st-place finish for junior Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.), who stopped the clock at 5:11.

The Ravens rounded out their participation at New Englands in the 800 meters. Freshman Meghan Sheline (Southington, Conn.) finished 18th, with a run of 2:33.67.
