SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 8, 2021) - The Nwosu sisters made sure graduate student Bethaney Donnelly (Manchester, United Kingdom) would not stand alone. A day after Donnelly claimed the Northeast-10 Conference title in the 10,000 meters, sophomore Julieth Nwosu (Brockton, Mass.) and freshman Nkechi Nwosu (Brockton, Mass.) brought home the NE10 crowns in the shot put and the discus, respectively. In the end, they helped lead the Ravens to a program-best sixth-place finish at the NE10 Championships, hosted by American International College.

In total, the Ravens tallied seven All-NE10 performances and 16 point-scoring performances on Saturday. All-NE10 honors went to both Nwosu sisters, along with Donnelly, for their event wins, as well as Julieth Nwosu again at third in the discus, junior Stephanie Phoenix (Wallingford, Conn.) at third in the pole vault, sophomore Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) at second in the 400 meters, and the 4x800-meter relay in second.

When all was said and done, the Ravens finished sixth, out of 12 teams, with 84.5 points. At the top of the field, host AIC (114 points) claimed its first-ever NE10 title by just two points over four-time defending champion Stonehill (112), which had to settle for a runner-up finish. Adelphi took third with 107 points.

The meet started strong for the Ravens with the shot put. Julieth Nwosu claimed the NE10 title with a heave of 13.30 meters, while Nkechi Nwosu took fourth for her 12.19-meter throw. The sisters were followed by freshman Tyra Felton (Sterling, Mass.), who threw 11.34 meters to take fifth. In sixth was junior Samantha DeSouza (Sebago, Maine) who threw 10.98 meters. She was followed by a 10.97-meter throw from graduate student Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.), who claimed eighth, as all five Ravens who competed in the event scored points.

Next was the long jump, where freshman Angelique Coa jumped 4.05 meters to take 19th.

In the pole vault, Phoenix picked up her All-NE10 accolade by getting up and over 3.05 meters to finish third. Freshman Emma Cutter (Newburyport, Mass.) cleared 2.15 meters to claim eighth and pick up a point as well.

In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Fadima Kaba (Peabody, Mass.) took fifth in her heat, with a time of 17.31 seconds, to finish 13th overall.

Next up in the throwing events was junior Jessica Brewster (Castleton, Vt.), who threw 30.05 meters to finish sixth and score three points in the javelin.

Franklin Pierce had three athletes on the track in the 100-meter dash. Sophomore Destini Hill-Edwards (Paget, Bermuda) ran the event in 13 seconds flat to take 10th. She was followed by senior Alyssa Harris (Billerica, Mass.), who took 14th for her 13.06-second time. Sophomore Stephanie Manu (Boston, Mass.) ran the event in 13.74 seconds to take 18th.

In the steeplechase, sophomore Victoria Van Houten (Wantage, N.J.) scored four points and took fifth for her 13:16 time.

The 4x100-meter relay competed next and finished fourth in 49.07 seconds for five points. The team consisted of Coa, Young-Bey, Harris, and Hill-Edwards. Freshman Jasmin Baillargeon (South Wheelock, Vt.) then took 18th in the 1500-meter race after her 5:42 finish, before Young-Bey picked up All-NE10 honors by finishing second in the 400-meter dash (57.19).

The sisters Nwosu returned in the discus, where Nkechi claimed the NE10 title by twirling and firing 40.44 meters, while Julieth took All-NE10 honors in third at 38.27 meters. Farther back, Comstock took 12th for her 30.55-meter throw. She was followed by DeSouza, who claimed 13th for her 30.55-meter throw.

In the 800, senior Amanda Pale (Plainville, Conn.) took 19th for her 2:41.33 race. Cutter returned to do the 400-meter hurdles and took a 13th-place finish for her 1:19.38 time. In the 200-meter dash, Harris took 13th for her 26.84-second time, while Manu finished 16th in 28.18 seconds.
