SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 7, 2021) -- As was the case for the men on Thursday, the women's Northeast-10 Conference Track & Field Championships got underway with limited competition on Friday, as the hammer throw and the 10k were conducted. The Franklin Pierce University women's track & field program made the best of the abbreviated amount of competition, as graduate student Bethaney Donnelly (Manchester, United Kingdom) brought home the NE10 title in the 10k. The NE10 Championships are being hosted by American International College.

Donnelly led wire-to-wire in the 10,000 meters and turned in a time of 39:11 to take first place by nine seconds over Stonehill junior Rebecca Erhard. The victory put the Ravens out on the right foot in the NE10 Championships with 10 early points.

Meanwhile, in the hammer, freshman Tyra Felton (Sterling, Mass.) snagged a point for an eighth-place finish, with a heave of 32.61 meters. Fellow freshman Valeria Lamas (Fall River, Mass.) placed 11th at 25.71 meters.

The women will compete in a full day of events on Saturday to round out the NE10 Championships.
