Telfer Claims Three NE10 Titles, Women’s Track & Field Places Seventh at NE10 Championships

MANCHESTER, N.H. (May 4, 2019) – Senior CeCe Telfer (Lebanon, N.H.) took home three Northeast-10 Conference titles on Saturday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on the second and final day of the NE10 Championships, hosted by Southern New Hampshire. It was part of a day which saw the Ravens collect six medals on the way to a seventh-place finish, out of 12 teams. Telfer also earned the award for the meet's Most Outstanding Performer.

In all, the Ravens had four individuals and a relay team combine to score 55 points on Saturday. Combined with five points from Friday's competition, Franklin Pierce finished with 60 points overall. At the top, Stonehill chalked up 185 points to claim its fourth straight NE10 outdoor title. The Skyhawks were followed by Assumption in second place (169 points) and Southern Connecticut State in third (83 points).

Telfer piled up 30 points alone for the Ravens, as she collected 10 points apiece for her wins in the 100-meter hurdles (13.41), the 400 meters (54.41) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.35). The 100-meter hurdles time established a new NE10 Championship record and met the NCAA Championships automatic qualifying standard in the process, while her time in the 400 meters met the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard.

It was one of two NCAA provisional qualifying marks on the day for the Ravens, as senior Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) added a third-place finish in the triple jump for six points, with a hop, skip and jump distance of 11.86 meters. A second-place finish from freshman Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) in the high jump (1.64m) for eight points and a third-place finish from junior Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) in the discus (38.78m) for six points rounded out the medal performances on the day for Franklin Pierce. The NE10 awards medals to the top three finishers in each event.

Comstock doubled back to score in another event as well. She picked up three more points with a sixth-place finish in the shot put, with a heave of 12.04 meters.

Franklin Pierce's remaining two points on Saturday came courtesy of a seventh-place finish for the 4x100-meter relay team. Baah, Telfer, freshman MaCayla Glenn (Springfield, Mass.) and sophomore Alyssa Harris (Billerica, Mass.) combined to complete a lap of the track in 49.38 seconds.

The Ravens return to action on Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, when they travel to the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State in New Haven, Conn.
