Track & Field’s Guay, Telfer Set School Records at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 29, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University track & field program wound up having only two student-athletes compete on Friday at the Florida Relays, but the pair of Ravens made the best of the opportunity, as each established new program records. Junior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) set a new school record in the men's 400-meter hurdles, while senior Cece Telfer (Lebanon, N.H.) did the same in the women's 400-meter hurdles.

Telfer's mark would be the more impressive of the two. She turned in a time of 57.79 seconds, which was good enough for third place in a field laden with Division I talent. Telfer's time met the NCAA Championships automatic qualifying standard, which means she has already punched her ticket to Kingsville, Texas, for the NCAA Championships at the end of May. Telfer was one of two Division II athletes in the 400-meter hurdles to meet the automatic qualifying standard on the day.

Meanwhile, Guay's time was no slouch, as he finished 21st, with a mark of 53.01 seconds. He was one of four Division II athletes in the event to meet the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard, and also qualified for the NEICAAA Championships in the process.

Sophomore Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) was also scheduled to represent the Ravens at the Florida relays, but he was disqualified in the 800 meters.

The Ravens will have the full squad back in action on Saturday, April 6, when they travel to Manchester, N.H., for the SNHU Spring Invitational.
