Baah Nabs School Record for Women’s Track & Field at David Hemery Invitational

BOSTON (February 8, 2019) – Senior Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) set a new school record in the triple jump on Friday for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team, to lead the way at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University.

Baah's school-record mark of 11.77 meters was also good enough to meet the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard in the event, which marked the fourth time she has hit the standard this winter. Baah finished fourth in the event at the meet and is ranked second in the Northeast-10 Conference in the triple jump.

Elsewhere on Friday, junior Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) moved into a tie for 12th in the NE10 in the shot put, with a throw of 11.20 meters, which was good enough to tie for 20th place. Freshman Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.) added a season-best time in the 800 meters, as she ran a 2:21.36 to finish 103rd.

Franklin Pierce posted a pair of other noticeable marks in field events at BU. In the high jump, freshman Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) got up and over 1.65 meters to finish in a tie for seventh. Meanwhile, it was a 17th-place finish in the weight throw for senior Kendra Covington (Torrington, Conn.), with a heave of 13.78 meters.

The men's team will be in action on Saturday at the second day of the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
