Trio of School Records Fall for Women’s Track & Field at UAlbany Spring Classic

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 21, 2018) – Freshman Alyssa Harris (Billerica, Mass.) came calling for a pair of program records on Saturday, as she set new school bests in the 100- and 200-meter dashes for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team. Junior Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) added a school record in the triple jump, as the Ravens set three new program records at the UAlbany Spring Classic, hosted by the University at Albany.

Harris advanced to the final of the 100-meter dash, where she turned in a time of 12.63 seconds to finish fourth, but it was actually her preliminary run of 12.58 seconds which now stands as the school record. Harris added a program record in the 200-meter dash as well, where she ran a time of 25.45 seconds to finish sixth. The latter mark currently ranks fourth in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Meanwhile, Baah posted a hop, skip and jump of 11.42 meters to finish third in the triple jump and establish a new school record in the process. The distance currently ranks sixth in the NE10 and seventh in the East Region.

The Ravens would notch wins in a pair of throwing events on Saturday. Senior Miranda Gagnon (Rollinsford, N.H.) took first in the javelin throw (37.82m), while fellow senior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) won the hammer throw (49.27m). Gagnon's javelin mark is currently good for fifth in the NE10 and sixth in the East Region.

Franklin Pierce had one remaining individual top-five finish at Albany, which came courtesy of Evaline Rodrigues (Rehoboth, Mass.) in the 400-meter hurdles. The freshman clocked in at 1:11.11 to finish fifth.

The Ravens would add another top-five finish as a team in the 4x100-meter relay. It was a third-place finish for the lineup of Baah, Harris, Rodrigues and graduate student Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.), who combined to get the baton around the track in 50.86 seconds.

Also of note in track events on Saturday, Galewski qualified for the final of the 100-meter hurdles and then turned in a time of 15.58 seconds to finish seventh, while sophomore Rebecca Zylak (Goffstown, N.H.) turned in a mark of 11:07.02 to finish ninth in the 3000 meters.

The Ravens will have select participants in action this week at the prestigious Penn Relays, which run April 25-28 at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
