Women’s Track & Field Competes at Second Day of NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON (February 25, 2017) – A school-record performance by freshman Ayodele O'uhuru (Montvale, N.J.) in the 60-meter dash highlighted the second and final day of the NEICAAA Championships for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Franklin Pierce did not pick up any further points on Saturday, which left the squad with two points for the meet, as the Ravens finished in a tie for 29th, out of 35 teams to score points on the weekend.

O'uhuru lowered the school record in the 60-meter dash to 7.90 seconds, which was good enough for a 10th-place finish on Saturday. She was joined in the event by freshman Ariana Alvarado (Naugatuck, Conn.), who finished 28th, with a time of 8.19 seconds.

Meanwhile, senior Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) represented the Ravens in the 60-meter hurdles, where she turned in a time of 9.53 seconds, to place 25th.

The remaining Franklin Pierce participants on Saturday both competed in field events. Freshman Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) finished 14th in the shot put, with a heave of 12.00 meters, while sophomore Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) took 17th in the triple jump, with a mark of 10.65 meters.

For the women's team, Saturday wrapped up the indoor season. The Ravens will return to action on Saturday, March 25, when they travel to open the outdoor season at the Wesleyan Spring Classic in Middletown, Conn.
