School Records Tumble as Women’s Track & Field Places Eighth at Northeast-10 Indoor Championship

BOSTON (February 18, 2017) – Senior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) broke a pair of school records on Saturday, while freshmen Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) and Ayodele O'uhuru (Montvale, N.J.) broke one each, leading the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, held at Reggie Lewis Center.

In all, Franklin Pierce finished the day with 34 points, which was good enough to place eighth in the 12-team field. Up front, Stonehill (151 points) took home the team title, followed by Southern Connecticut State (135 points) in second and Adelphi (89 points) in third.

The highest individual performance for the Ravens on Saturday came courtesy of junior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.). She came up with a heave of 15.53 meters to finish second in the weight throw and earn eight points. Also scoring in the weight throw was senior Kendra Plant (Cumberland, R.I.), who picked up two points with a seventh-place throw of 14.16 meters.

Meanwhile, school records fell throughout the day for Franklin Pierce. Galewski claimed two of them for herself, with impressive showings in both a track event and a field event. In the long jump, she finished fifth with a school-record leap of 5.54 meters, to earn four points. In the 60-meter hurdles, Galewski's heat time established a new school record at 9.07 seconds, before she turned in a time of 9.15 seconds in the final to finish fifth and pick up another four points. Her long-jump mark was good enough to meet the NEICAAA Championship qualifying mark in the event.

Comstock lowered the shot put record yet again for the Ravens, as she picked up three points with a sixth-place throw of 12.44 meters. Back on the track, O'uhuru met the NEICAAA qualifying mark in the 60-meter dash, as she turned in a program-record time of 7.91 seconds in the final to place sixth and pick up three points.

Galewski had crimson and grey company in both events she scored in on Saturday. In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) collected three points with a run of 9.21 seconds in the final, which was good for sixth place. In the long jump, senior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) qualified for the NEICAAA Championship with a leap of 5.45 meters, which allowed her to pick up one point with an eighth-place finish.

The remaining individual to score for the Ravens was sophomore Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.), who picked up two points in the triple jump. She finished seventh by putting together a hop, skip and jump totaling 11.10 meters.

Franklin Pierce's remaining four points came via a fifth-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay. Junior Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.), junior Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.), junior Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.) and senior Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) turned in a time of 9:58.32.

The Ravens return to action on Feb. 24-25, when they return to the Reggie Lewis Center for the NEICAAA Championships.
