O’uhuru, Quinn, Toscano All Winners for Women’s Track & Field at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (February 4, 2017) – Freshman Ayodele O'uhuru (Montvale, N.J.) in the 60-meter dash, junior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) in the weight throw and senior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) in the long jump were all winners on Saturday, leading the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team at the Wesleyan Invitational.

O'uhuru provided the most impressive outing of the day for the Ravens, as she won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.94 seconds. The mark established a new school record in the event and stands as the eighth-fastest time in the Northeast-10 Conference so far on the season.

The other two Franklin Pierce victories on Saturday both came in field events. Quinn was the winner in the weight throw, with a heave of 15.54 meters, while Toscano took first place in the long jump by leaping 5.05 meters. Behind Quinn in the weight throw, senior Kendra Plant (Cumberland, R.I.) finished fourth with a throw of 14.28 meters, which moved her into 10th in the NE10.

Franklin Pierce also had two of the top-four finishers in the shot put at Wesleyan. Freshman Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) finally had a week where she did not establish a new program record, but still finished second with a throw of 12.00 meters, while sophomore Kendra Covington (Torrington, Conn.) posted a mark of 11.36 meters to place fourth. Elsewhere, senior Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles, with a run of 9.32 seconds.

On the relay front, the Ravens' 4x800-meter team finished fourth by running a time of 10:34.13, which is currently good for fourth in the NE10. The lineup consisted of freshman Julia Cormier (Northwood, N.H.), senior Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.), junior Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.) and junior Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.).

The Ravens return to action on Friday, Feb. 10-11, when they travel to Boston University for the David Hemery Invitational.
