Galewski Earns All-New England Honors in Heptathlon for Women’s Track & Field on Final Day of NEICAAA Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 14, 2016) – Junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) finished eighth in the heptathlon to earn All-New England honors and lead the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on the second day of the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State.

Galewski tallied 4146 points on her way to All-New England honors with the eighth-place finish in the heptathlon. Her performance earned the lone point of the two-day meet for the Ravens, who finished in a tie for 34th out of 38 teams to earn points over the weekend.

Elsewhere for Franklin Pierce on Saturday, freshman Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) took part in the triple jump, where she finished 13th. She posted a hop, skip and jump of 10.97 meters.

On the track, sophomore Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.) competed in a pair of events to round out the Ravens' participation at the New England Championships. She finished 26th in the 1500 meters, with a time of 5:15.78, and placed 30th in the 800 meters, with a time of 2:27.23.

Franklin Pierce will find out next week if any of its student-athletes have qualified for the NCAA Championships. The NCAA has the selection announcement scheduled for after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, via press release at NCAA.com.
