SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 6, 2016) – Senior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.), sophomore Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) and junior Kendra Plant (Cumberland, R.I.) all scored points in the hammer throw on Friday, leading the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by American International. The Ravens are currently third after the first day of the two-day event.

Franklin Pierce had six student-athletes and one relay team collect points across five events, to total 38 points on the first day of the Northeast-10 Championships. Stonehill (54 points) leads the way, followed by Southern Connecticut State (42 points) in second, while Merrimack (35 points) in fourth and Assumption (24 points) in fifth round out the top five behind the Ravens.

The Ravens collected 15 of their 38 points as Hyde, Quinn and Plant finished third, fourth and fifth in the hammer throw, respectively. Hyde picked up six points with a heave of 46.35 meters, Quinn tallied five points with a throw of 44.13 meters and Plant notched four points with a mark of 43.01 meters.

The largest single point total of the day for Franklin Pierce came in a field event as well, courtesy of junior Miranda Gagnon (Rollinsford, N.H.). She picked up eight points by taking second in the javelin throw, with a heave of 38.91 meters. Elsewhere in field events, freshman Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) tallied four points by finishing fifth in the long jump, with a leap of 5.32 meters.

Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) was the only Raven to score in an individual event on the track on Friday. She picked up six points with a third-place finish in the 1500 meters, as she turned in a time of 4:38.23.

Lambert was also a member of the Franklin Pierce 4x800-meter relay squad, which notched five points with a fourth-place finish. The Ravens put together a time of 9:38.21, with a lineup of sophomore Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.), sophomore Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.), freshman Caitlyn Leary (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Lambert.

On Saturday, the Ravens will earn at least one point in the 100-meter hurdles, as junior Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) has advanced to the final. In Friday's preliminary heats, she ran a time of 15.29 seconds to finish third in her heat and post the fifth-fastest preliminary time.

Friday was also the first day of the heptathlon at the Northeast-10 Championships, with junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) representing the Ravens. Through four of the seven events, she is third, out of seven competitors, with 2278 points, which is 508 off the lead and 143 points out of second place. Galewski finished third in three events and fourth in another on Friday, while her highest point total came in the 200-meter dash, where she earned 627 points with a time of 28.05 seconds.

The Northeast-10 Championships will conclude on Saturday at American International.
