Lambert, Relays Help Lead Women’s Track & Field to Eighth-Place Finish at Northeast-10 Championships

Souliere, Galewski add top-five finishes

BOSTON (February 20, 2016) – Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) anchored a pair of top-two relay finishes and added an individual second in the 1000 meters on Saturday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, held at Reggie Lewis Center. In all, the Ravens collected 41 points to finish eighth out of 11 teams.

Lambert had a hand in 30 of the Ravens' 41 points on Saturday. She had the team's highest individual finish at the meet, as she ran a time of 3:03.41 in the 1000 meters to finish second and earn eight points.

Lambert was also a part of three relays which scored points for Franklin Pierce at the Northeast-10 Championships. She ran the anchor leg on both the distance medley relay, which took home the title, as well as the 4x800-meter relay, which finished second. The DMR squad featured a lineup of sophomore Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.), senior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.), sophomore Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.) and Lambert, which turned in a time of 12:21.96 to finish first and earn 10 points. Cassara led off the 4x800 as well, where she was followed by junior Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.), freshman Caitlyn Leary (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Lambert, as the Ravens ran a 9:54.41 to place second for eight points.

The distance medley relay crown marked the first-ever Northeast-10 title for Franklin Pierce's women's program.

The Ravens also earned four points for a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. A lineup of Crawford to junior Ashley Burgess (Hyde Park, N.Y.) to Lambert to Loney stopped the clock at 4:08.62.

Franklin Pierce's 11 remaining points came from four student-athletes across three field events and a track event. On the track, junior Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) ran a time of 9.40 seconds to finish fifth and earn four points. Her heat time had been a tick lower, at 9.37 seconds, as she placed second in her preliminary heat to qualify for the final.

Junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) posted the remaining top-five finish for the Ravens. She posted a leap of 5.42 meters to finish fifth in the long jump and collect another four points.

The Ravens scored in two other field events to round out their day at the Northeast-10 Championships. Sophomore Kelsey Lee-Donnelly (Manchester, N.H.) earned a pair of points in the pole vault by clearing 2.60 meters to finish seventh. Fellow sophomore Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) picked up a point in the weight throw with a heave of 13.70 meters to finish eighth.

At the top of the field on Saturday, Stonehill finished with 157.5 points to claim its third straight Northeast-10 indoor title. Behind the Skyhawks, Southern Connecticut State (144 points), Merrimack (116), New Haven (78) and American International (65) rounded out the top five.

The Ravens return to the track on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26-27, when they return to Boston for the NEICAAA Championships at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
