Quinn, Toscano post top-10 marks in NE-10 as well

BOSTON (February 12, 2016) – Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) ran the nation's fastest time this year in the 1000 meters on Friday, taking over the top spot in the Northeast-10 Conference in the process, to lead the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University.

Lambert stopped the clock at 2:52.04 on Friday to finish 11th at BU. Lambert had already met the NEICAAA Championships qualifying standard at the event three weeks ago, but chopped over eight seconds off of her time with her performance at the BU Track & Tennis Center. Though the 1000 meters is not an event run at the NCAA Championships, the time stands as the fastest in Division II so far in 2015-16 and moves Lambert into the top spot in the Northeast-10 in the event.

A pair of Ravens field athletes put together performances which rank among the top 10 in the Northeast-10 so far this year on Friday as well. In the weight throw, sophomore Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) came up with a heave of 14.29 meters, to finish 24th, with a mark which ranks fourth in the Northeast-10. Meanwhile, junior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) moved into 10th in the Conference in the long jump, with a leap of 5.10 meters, which was good for 35th place.

Back on the track, both sophomore Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and senior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) posted times which rank in the top 15 in the Northeast-10 thus far. Cassara finished 104th in the 800 meters, with a run of 2:22.53, which ranks 13th in the league. In the 200 meters, Loney placed 106th, with a time of 26.31 seconds, which stands 15th in the Conference.

The Ravens return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Northeast-10 Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
