Galewski, Quinn Notch Wins for Women’s Track & Field at Wesleyan Indoor Invitational

Lambert meets NCAA provisional mark in mile at URI

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (February 6, 2016) – Junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) finished first in the long jump and sophomore Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) picked up a win in the weight throw to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on Saturday at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational.

Galewski's long jump of 5.21 meters was a season best and is currently good for sixth-best in the Northeast-10 Conference so far in 2015-16. Meanwhile, Quinn won the weight throw with a heave of 14.22 meters. Elsewhere in field events, junior Shannon Coffey (Bohemia, N.Y.) placed eighth by clearing a season-best 2.45 meters, which is currently tied for eighth in the Northeast-10.

Franklin Pierce's best performance on the track at Wesleyan came in the 60-meter hurdles, courtesy of junior Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.). She ran a season-best time of 9.46 seconds to finish second with a time which ranks seventh in the Northeast-10.

Elsewhere, in the 1000 meters, sophomore Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.) moved into 17th in the Northeast-10 with a time of 3:15.16 to finish second. After conversion due to NCAA track standards, the time stands at a season-best 3:15.16. In the 3000 meters, sophomore Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.) ran a time of 11:30.85 to finish second as well.

Meanwhile, senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) was in Kingston, R.I. to compete in the mile at the Coaches' Tribute Meet, hosted by the University of Rhode Island. She met both the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard and the NEICAAA Championships qualifying mark by running a time of 5:00.51 to finish second. After conversion, the season-best time of 4:57.57 ranks second in the Northeast-10.

The Ravens return to the track on Saturday, February 13, when they travel to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University.
