Lambert 1000m Run Highlights Day for Women’s Track & Field at GBTC Invitational
Souliere adds second in 60-meter hurdles
BOSTON (January 24, 2016) – Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) met the NEICAAA Championships qualifying standard in the 1000-meter run on Sunday, as her second-place finish was one of the highlights on the day for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team at the GBTC Invitational.
In addition to bettering the NEICAAA qualifying mark, Lambert's time of 3:00.59 in the 1000 meters is currently good enough for second in the Northeast-10 Conference. She took second place in the event at the GBTC Invitational, and it was one of two second-place finishes on the day for the Ravens. Junior Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) had the other, as she ran a 9.71 in the 60-meter hurdles final to finish second. Souliere's time in her preliminary heat was even better, clocking it at a season-best 9.57, which is good for seventh in the Northeast-10.
Three other Ravens had marks which check in among the top-15 performances in the Nrotehast-10 thus far in 2015-16, with two such outings coming behind Lambert in the 1000. Sophomore Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.) finished eighth with a time of 3:17.33, which ranks 13th in the Northeast-10, while freshman Sarah Hart (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished 10th with a time of 3:20.58, which ranks 15th in the Northeast-10.
Though she didn't qualify for the final, junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) turned in a time of 10.06 seconds in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles. The mark was a season best and is currently good for 13th in the Northeast-10. Galewski also posted a top-five finish in the long jump on the day, as she notched a leap of 4.85 meters to finish fourth.
Senior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) collected a pair of top-10 finishes for the Ravens. In the 200 meters, she ran a time of 27.12 seconds to finish sixth, while in the 60-meter dash, she clocked in at 8.27 seconds in the final to finish seventh.
Sophomore Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) provided the highlight of the day for the Ravens when it came to throwing events. Quinn finished third in the weight throw with a heave of 13.73 meters.
The Ravens return to the track on Saturday, Jan. 30, when they return to Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University.
