Toscano Sets Season Best in First Day of Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (March 19, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team competed at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina University.  Sophomore Samantha Toscano  (Northwood, N.H.) set her season best in the 200 meter on Thursday at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

Toscano placed 16th out of 22 in the heptathlon scoring 1882 points through four events.  She placed 14th in the 100-meter hurdles with at time of 17.86, earning 503 points. 18th in the shot put with a distance of 6.88 meters, earning 327 points, and 16th in the high jump with 1.37 meters, earning 481 points. She ran her season best in the 200 meters where she placed 15th with a time of 27.78 and earned 571 points. She will compete in her final three events tomorrow, March 20th.

Sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) placed 14th out of 15 in the 10,000 meters with a time of 42:08.39.

The team will compete in day two of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational tomorrow, March 20th.
