Women’s Track & Field finish second at first day of Elm City Challenge

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (December 11, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce Women's Track & Field team came out firing on all cyllenders with strong showing at the Elm City Challenge hosted by Southern Connecticut State University. The Ravens were well represented, led by strong performances from sophomore Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) and sophomore Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.).

Loney would finish strong in all of her events, finishing fourth in the Women's 55 meter dash with a time of 7.43 seconds. Souliere would outperform her Franklin Pierce teammate with a first place finish in the Women's 55 Meter Hurdles, running an 8.70 seconds.

Loney would find her way back into winning conversation along with sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.), junior Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.), and junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) as the four took home first place in the Women's Distance Medley with a time of 12:50.21.

Freshman Nicole Galewski (Pembroke, Mass.) would also appear atop the leaderboard on the field side of things, as she soared to a second place finish in the Women's Long Jump with a distance of 5.32 meters.

Elsewhere, junior Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) cracked the top three in the Women's 55 Meter Hurdles behind Souliere.

The Ravens return to the track tomorrow, December 12 to participate in day two of the Elm City Challenge hosted by Southern Connecticut State University at Moore Field House.
