Women’s Track & Field Competes in 4x100, 4x400 at Penn Relays

4x4 now ranks fifth in NE-10

Crawford PHILADELPHIA (April 23, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team fielded squads in both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays on Thursday at the prestigious Penn Relays, hosted by University of Pennsylvania at historic Franklin Field.

The Ravens' 4x400 team featured a lineup of junior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) to junior Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) to sophomore Kayla Phipps (New Windsor, N.Y.) to freshman Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.). The quartet finished 80th (of 83), with a time of 4:13.59, which currently ranks fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference. Franklin Pierce finished fourth, out of six teams, in its heat, which was won by Lock Haven (4:04.48). The fastest heat time in the 4x400 on Thursday belonged to University of Technology (Jamaica) at 3:37.24, while the fastest NCAA time belonged to Duke at 3:38.77.

Meanwhile, Franklin Pierce also fielded a 4x100 squad consisting of Loney, Price, junior Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) and sophomore Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.). The foursome stopped the clock at 50.24 seconds, to finish 73rd (of 98). The Ravens were seventh, out of nine teams, in their heat, which was won by an Oklahoma squad which ran the fourth-fastest heat time (46.20). Texas turned in the day's fastest time (45.59).

Thursday was the only day the women's team was scheduled to have competitors at the Penn Relays. The full squad will return to action on Sunday, when the Ravens travel to Weston, Mass., for the Pride Classic, hosted by Regis.
