Ravens place seventh

Lambert Lambert finished second in the 1000 meters and anchored a pair of top-four relays on Saturday at the Northeast-10 Championships.

BOSTON (February 21, 2015) – Junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) had the highest finish on Saturday for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team and also anchored a pair of strong relay performances at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, held at the Reggie Lewis Center. The Ravens tallied 34 points on the day to finish seventh out of 10 teams which scored at the meet.

Up front, Stonehill (160.5 points) defended its indoor title by narrowly defeating Southern Connecticut State (156). New Haven (111.5) in third, American International (84) in fourth and Adelphi (77) in fifth rounded out the top five.

Lambert led the Northeast-10 in the 1000 meters earlier in the season, but was edged by Stonehill sophomore Alexandra Buonfiglio a week ago at the David Hemery Invitational. The same happened again Saturday, as Buonfiglio ran a 3:02.31 to take the Northeast-10 title in the event. Lambert settled for second with a time of 3:05.70, which earned eight points for the Ravens.

Lambert also anchored the 4x800-meter and distance medley relays on Saturday, both of which finished in the top four. The DMR finished third to earn six points, with a time of 12:37.18, as Lambert was preceded by junior Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.), freshman Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.) and sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.). The 4x800 team ran a time of 10:03.03 to place fourth and earn five points, with a quartet of Koch to junior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) to freshman Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.) to Lambert.

Elsewhere, sophomore Nicole Galewski (Pembroke, Mass.) met the NEICAAA Championships qualifying standard in the long jump with a mark of 5.43 meters. The distance was good for fifth to earn four points for Franklin Pierce.

Also finishing fifth for the Ravens was junior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.), who posted a heave of 13.81 meters in the weight throw. Hyde was one of two Ravens to score in the weight throw, as she was joined by sophomore Kendra Plant (Cumberland, R.I.), who finished eighth (12.95m) to earn one point.

Franklin Pierce rounded out its scoring on Saturday with a trio of seventh-place finishes for two points each. Freshman Kelsey Lee-Donnelly (Manchester, N.H.) finished seventh in the pole vault (2.75m), while junior Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.26). Lastly, the 4x400-meter squad of sophomore Kayla Phipps (New Windsor, N.Y.), junior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.), junior Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) and Crawford ran a 4:15.33 to finish seventh as well.

The Ravens return to the track on Feb. 27-28, for the NEICAAA Championships at BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston.
