Gagnon, Hyde Season Bests Highlight Day for Women’s Track & Field at Pride Classic Invitational

Ravens notch five top-two finishes on track

Hyde Hyde had her longest throw of the season in the discus on Sunday at Regis and is now second in the Northeast-10.

WESTON, Mass. (April 27, 2014) – Freshman Miranda Gagnon (Rollinsford, N.H.) posted the first NCAA Championship provisional qualifying mark in the history of the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field program on Sunday with her throw in the javelin at the Pride Classic Invitational, hosted by Regis. Sophomore Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) added a season best in the discus for the Ravens.

Already the Northeast-10 Conference leader in the vent, Gagnon became the first Northeast-10 student-athlete to top 40 meters in the javelin in 2014, as she came up with a throw of 40.32 meters to finish second at the meet. In the discus, Hyde checked in with a throw of 37.21 meters to finish third. The distance currently ranks second in the Northeast-10.

Meanwhile, on the track, the Ravens posted a quintet of top-two finishes, led by a one-two finish in the 100-meter hurdles. Freshman Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) clocked a time of 15.73 seconds to win the event, while sophomore Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) notched a time of 16.35 seconds to finish second. In the 100-meter dash, sophomore Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) finished in 12.95 seconds to place second. In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) ran a time of 27.40 seconds to finish second. In the 1500 meters, sophomore Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) stopped the clock at 5:00.13 to record another second-place finish.

The Ravens return to the track on Friday, May 2, for the first day of the Northeast-10 Championships, to be hosted by Stonehill in Easton, Mass.
