Women’s Track & Field Notches Four Top-10s at Yellow Jacket Invitational

4x100 relay places sixth

Hyde Hyde earned points in the discus and also had the best throw so far in the Northeast-10 in the hammer on Saturday at AIC.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 5, 2014) – Sophomore Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) threw the discus 35.98 meters to place sixth on Saturday to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International. The throw earned three points for the Ravens, who finished 19th in the 20-team meet, with six points.

Hyde's work in the discus was one of two point-scoring efforts for the Ravens on Saturday at AIC. Franklin Pierce also finished sixth in the 4x100-meter relay, which ran a time of 50.25 seconds. The mark currently stands fifth in the Northeast-10 on the young outdoor season.

The Ravens earned two other top-10 finishes at the meet. Sophomore Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) took ninth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.79 seconds, which is good for sixth in the Northeast-10. Meanwhile, freshman Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles by stopping the clock at 15.64 seconds. The mark met the qualifying standard for the New England Championships and is currently ninth in the Northeast-10.

Hyde also competed in the hammer throw at AIC. She was able to finish 15th, with a mark of 35.85 meters, which is currently the best throw in the Northeast-10. Elsewhere, sophomore Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) finished 14th in the 100 meters with a time of 13.08 seconds, which ranks ninth in the Conference.

The Ravens return to the track on Saturday, April 12, at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by University of Massachusetts Lowell.
