Simmons notches season best in high jump

Lambert Lambert ranks eighth in the Northeast-10 in the 800 meters after her run on Saturday.

HANOVER, N.H. (February 1, 2014) – Sophomore Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) ran a season-best in the 800 meters on Saturday to finish third for the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team at the Dartmouth Classic at Leverone Field House.

Lambert stopped the clock at 2:24.02, which is currently good for eighth in the Northeast-10. While she was the only Raven to post a top-five finish individually on Saturday, multiple Ravens chalked up top-10 finishes at the Dartmouth Classic.

Sophomore Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) posted a pair of top-10 runs on her own, including a season-best 27.24 in the 200 meters, where she finished seventh. She also cracked the top 10 with a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter dash (8.25).

Freshman Melanie Hill (Danbury, Conn.) joined Loney in the top 10 in the 200, as she finished eighth (27.40). Elsewhere, sophomore Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) added a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.75), while freshman Kayla Phipps (New Windsor, N.Y.) chipped in a 10th-place finish in the 400 meters (1:03.65).

Of note in the field events for the Ravens, freshman Brooke Simmons (Dunbarton, N.H.) turned in a season best in the high jump, as she cleared 1.53 meters to finish 10th. The height is just two centimeters shy of pushing Simmons into the top 10 in the Northeast-10 in the event.

Though it is an event which is contested at neither the Northeast-10 nor NCAA Championships, Franklin Pierce picked up a win on Saturday in the 4x200-meter relay (1:50.63).

The Ravens return to the track on Friday, Feb. 7, for the first day of the Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston.
