Hyde, Olson Net Points for Women’s Track & Field on First Day of Northeast-10 Outdoor Championship

Lambert posts season-best in 1,500m

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 3, 2013) – Freshman Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) finished fourth in the discus and freshman Micaila Olson (Upton, Mass.) took fifth in the javelin on Friday to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team on the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by American International at John G. Hoyt Track and Field Complex. Through the first day, the Ravens have amassed nine points and sit ninth in the 11-team meet, which will conclude on Saturday.

All nine of Franklin Pierce's points came from the throwing performances of Hyde and Olson. Hyde chalked up five points with her 37.59-meter chuck of discus to finish fourth. Olson captured four points by finishing fifth after launching the javelin 34.52 meters.

Elsewhere, freshman Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) ran a season-best time of 4:51.43 to finish 13th in the 1,500 meters. Fellow freshman Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) finished fifth in the fifth heat of the 200-meter dash (27.49) to place 24th overall.
