Sundqvist, Hyde Lead Way for Women’s Track & Field at Tufts Cupid Challenge

Lambert now 10th in NE-10 in 1,000 meters

Sundqvist Sundqvist moved up to 17th in the Northeast-10 with a third-place finish at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Monday evening.

MEDFORD, Mass. (February 11, 2013) – Freshman Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.), freshman Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) and junior Jannice Sundqvist (Harnosand, Sweden) all posted season-bests on Monday evening in the Gantcher Center for the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team at the Tufts Cupid Challenge. The event was moved to Monday due to Winter Storm Nemo, and served as a replacement for meets which were cancelled at MIT and Boston University.

Hyde finished eighth out of nine competitors in the weight throw (10.72m), but the result was not without accomplishment. She bettered her previous long throw of the winter, which was also at Tufts, by 0.25m and now ranks ninth in the Northeast-10. Elsewhere, Hyde placed third in the shot put (10.24m), though that distance was 0.78m shy of her longest heave of the year.

Lambert's only other 1,000-meter run of the season came nearly a month ago at Wesleyan, but on Monday she dropped nearly 2.5 seconds off her time from that meet, as she finished fifth (3:07.89) at the Cupid Challenge. After conversion per NCAA standards, the time goes in the books at 3:05.86, which ranks 10th in the Northeast-10 (for an in-depth discussion of indoor track and field time conversions, click here).

Meanwhile, Sundqvist matched Hyde for the highest finish at the meet, as she placed third in the 400m dash (1:00.18). The time was her best of the year, knocking more than a second off her time from the team's trip to Tufts earlier this month. After conversion, the time becomes 59.40, putting Sundqvist 17th in the Northeast-10.

The meet was the final tune-up for the Ravens before their inaugural trip to the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
