Georgieva Lands NE10 Player and Rookie of the Year

MANSFIELD, Mass. (10/17/24) - The Franklin Pierce University tennis program has a new name to celebrate, as first-year sensation Polina Georgieva has taken the Northeast-10 Conference by storm. As shared by the NE10 on Thursday, Georgieva was awarded both the 2024 NE10 Vern Cox Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Raven in school history to claim the coveted Player of the Year title and the first player in the NE10 since 2013 to earn both honors in the same season.

Georgieva's dominance on the court this season was nothing short of remarkable. Hailing from Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria, she made an immediate impact, delivering a flawless performance at No. 1 Singles, serving a 7-0 record in conference play, including a win over previously-unbeaten Irene Garbo of Saint Anselm in the final regular season match.

In addition to her Player and Rookie of the Year accolades, Georgieva earned a well-deserved spot on the All-NE10 First Team in No. 1 Singles and was named to the All-Rookie team.

Georgieva and the rest of the Ravens fell in postseason play to Southern New Hampshire University, yesterday. The Ravens will look to build off their fall season and continue play in their 2024-24 spring season.
