Northeast-10 Conference tennis All-Conference awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. (October 23, 2019) – In the midst of the most successful season in program history, the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team had four players collect a host of postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference on Wednesday afternoon. Freshmen Liria Loria (La Paz, Bolivia) and Laura Alvarez Tello (Vigo, Spain) were named to the All-NE10 Second Team, as was the doubles pairing of Loria and graduate student Himani Mor (Sonipat, India). Meanwhile, freshman Jazmin Flood (Laredo, Texas) landed on the All-NE10 Third Team, as did the doubles pairing of Alvarez Tello and Flood. Alvarez Tello, Flood and Loria were also all selected to the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

The NE10 determines All-Conference selections on a strictly objective basis, by tallying the individual records of players in matches against league opponents. The All-Rookie Team and the league’s major awards were determined by a vote of NE10 coaches.

Loria chalked up Second Team honors for her work at second singles, while Alvarez Tello landed on the Second Team for her work at third singles. Both posted a 9-1 singles record while representing the Ravens in all 10 of the team’s NE10 matches. Loria went 9-0 at second singles and suffered her lone loss at first singles, while Alvarez Tello went 8-1 at third singles and 1-0 at second singles.

Also on the Second Team was the pair of Loria and Mor, who earned the accolade as a result of their play at first doubles. The duo was paired together in all 10 of Franklin Pierce’s NE10 matches and posted an 8-2 record while playing exclusively at first doubles.

Flood was named to the Third Team at sixth singles, as that’s where she played a plurality of her league matches, but she played in three different spots in the lineup over the course of the NE10 season. Flood finished with an NE10 singles record of 5-5, which included 1-0 at third singles, 3-1 at fifth singles and 1-4 at sixth singles.

Flood also earned Third Team honors at the second doubles position, for her work when paired with Alvarez Tello. The duo notched a 6-2 record in NE10 play, which came exclusively at second doubles.

The Ravens (9-5) earned the program’s first-ever berth in the NE10 Championship after putting together a 6-4 record in league play this fall.
