Women's Soccer Sweeps NE10 Weekly Awards

 

MANSFIELD, Mass. (11/4/24) - In this week's Northeast-10 women's soccer weekly awards, the Ravens earned all four honors given. Claudia Peirce (Carver, Mass.) was the Player of the Week, Emilie Fox (Bridgewater, Mass.) was the Goalkeeper of the Week, Aino Martikainen (Jarvenpaa, Finland) was named Defensive Player of the Week and Kaitlyn Bautista (Scurry, Texas) was the Rookie of the Week.  

Peirce received Player of the Week honors after now standing alone as the NE10's leading scorer for the 2024 season after racking up four goals last week to give her 10 for the season. Peirce scored twice in each other her team's games, incluidng a massive weekend showdown against one-loss Saint Michael's on Saturday.  

Fox has not given up a goal in 315 minutes played, equaling 3.5 games. Fox put together nine total saves against Roberts Wesleyan and Saint Michael's to earn one shutout and two wins. Fox sits second in the conference with a .553 goals against average. 

Martikainen helped anchor a back line that earned two wins and a shutout this week. Martikainen also added an assist in the team's 7-1 win over Roberts Wesleyan. On Saturday, the Ravens held Saint Michael's off and Martikainen lead the defense to not allowing a goal. 

Bautista In her first season with the Ravens, Bautista has played a major role in Franklin Pierce's offense. This week, Bautista recorded four assists in two games. In the team's 7-1 win over Roberts Wesleyan, Bautista added three assists, setting up the offense for success. Then on Saturday, she contributed an assist on the Raven's second goal of the game. 

The Ravens will host the first round of NE10 playoffs this Sunday. They must wait for other NE10 teams to play in their regular season finales to learn who their opponent will be. Kickoff is planned for 2 PM at Sodexo Field.
