Women’s Soccer: Two Second-Half Goals Lifts Ravens Over Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. (10/05/24) - The Franklin Pierce women's soccer team defeated the Greyhounds of Assumption in a 2-0 decision in an NE10 conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.  

RECORDS:  

  • FPU: 9-1 (4-0-0 NE10)  
  • ASSUMPTION: 5-2-3 (0-2-2 NE10) 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The first half remained scoreless, and the Ravens would outshoot the Greyhounds 8-3.  

  • Franklin Pierce broke through in the 57th minute when Olivia Kudrikow (Plymouth, Mass.) scored her fourth goal of the season to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead.  

  • Just six minutes later, first year Mikayla Horton (East Islip, N.Y.) added an insurance goal, finishing off an assist from Jenni Huttunen (Suomi, Finland).  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  

  • Franklin Pierce outshot Assumption 21-11, including 10 shots on net compared to the Greyhounds' 4.  

  • Raven's goalkeeper, Emilie Fox (Bridgewater, Mass.), made four saves in the match. 

  • The Ravens held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.  

  • Horton tallied her second goal of the season for the Ravens.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens return to Sodexo Field on Wednesday night when they look to take revenge on the Hawks. The Hawks handed the Ravens their only loss of the season earlier this year. The NE10 match is set for 7 PM and is an ABA game.
