#2 Adelphi Bests Raven Lacrosse 17-6

RINDGE, N.H. (April 16, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse junior attack Bella Lima (Hudson, Mass.) scored a team-high two goals in a 17-6 defeat to Northeast-10 Conference foe and no. 2 nationally-ranked Adelphi University Tuesday afternoon on Sodexo Field. With the win, the Panthers move to 13-1 and remain unblemished in league play (10-0) while the loss, the fourth in a row sends the Ravens to 6-7, 3-7 NE10.

Lima tallied the second goal of the game for the Ravens off the first free position shot of the game for either team. She then tacked on a late score in the second half assisted by fellow attack Morgan Riley (Jamesville, N.Y.) Freshman defender Jenna Cimbron (Bristol, R.I.) tallied on her ninth goal of the year and chipped in a helper as well. Goalkeeper Megan Bacik (Huntington Station, N.Y.) stopped six shots in the loss, caused a game-high three turnovers and shagged a contest-best four groundballs.

For Adelphi, junior attack Kole Pollock produced a duel-high six goals. Teammate Alison Johnson scored three goals and handed out four assists for a seven-point effort. Starting netminder Emma Lemanski played the entire first half in the cage for the Panthers making one save. She was relieved a couple of minutes into the second stanza by Emily Perry who stifled one shot.

The Ravens and the Panthers manufactured equal amounts of groundballs (15) and clear attempts (17-of-18) however, the guests recorded more shots (27-to-13) and draw controls (19-to-5) than FPU.

Adelphi jumped ahead to a huge lead in the early stages scoring seven unanswered goals with two each coming off the sticks of Pollock and Johnson to hold a 7-0 margin over the hosts. Raven sophomore midfielder Zoe Totland (Salt Lake City, Utah) got the Ravens on the board dumping in a Cimbron dime from just outside the middle of the crease. Lima converted a free position attempt four minutes later to cut the Raven deficit to five, 7-2 with 12:40 left in the half. The Panthers outscored the Ravens 5-1 over the remaining time to increase their advantage to 12-3.

Pollock and senior midfielder Chelsea Abreu sank goals 10 minutes into the new half to expand the lead to 11 for the Panthers. Raven freshman attack Savannah Ernst (American Fork, Utah) dropped the deficit back to down 10 three minutes later. Three consecutive markers by Adelphi gave them their largest lead of the contest, 17-4 with under 10 minutes to go.

The Ravens two-game week continues on Thursday when they welcome no. 17 nationally-ranked Assumption College for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
